Making of This Web-Course

The following information is about principles and ideas considered when this Website is developed.

  • Structure of Website: ISD3 consists of three parts: top, menu, and main section.
Top section is not changed in every page. It contains the title of this Web-course, institutional information, and information about developer group.
Menu section is designed to provide user-friendly access to each topic. It shows the entire structure of this Web-course at a glance. When users move to each page, a different color of each menu clearly indicates where they are.
Main section is the place where the text information is displayed in ISD3. In order to make the main section distinguished, a different background is employed.
Although each page is divided into three sections, frames are not employed intentionally. Non-frames structure provides URL information of other Website when users move out of ISD3. Also, it gives the Webmaster more flexibility of managing graphics in each frame.

  • Navigation: Menu section is an important feature to support user-friendly navigation in this Web-course. Through menu section, users can move between Web pages by clicking a mouse button. Animated effects using Java script support users' easy access.
Graphic navigation links are provided in each page. This graphic links make users easily move to the next or previous page, as well as to the top of page.
Hyperlinks are presented in a traditional way (blue underline) to support beginners.

  • Multiple Representation: Various graphics are integrated into Web pages.
Decorative graphics are used to get users' attention.
Also, graphics supports multiple representation of information: succinct summarization, alternative representation, or supportive description.

  • Size: This Website may looks best, at least, in 800 x 600 resolution with any kind of browser. However, using a flexible table format, users get a consistent appearance on the screen.

  • Font: Three fonts are employed to consist of text information in this Website: Verdana, Arial, and Times New Roman. However, appearance may vary according to end-users' browser settings.
Bold and italic emphases are used to highlight important text and present information visually.
